It was the best of times, it was the worst of times and then there was a competition.

Stop Complaining, Do something by Menina Lesboa

Stop complaining, Do Something by Menina Lisboa

In a lot of ways last week bought a lot of things to the surface which I had been avoiding for a very long time. We had a family member die and while it was not entirely unexpected (grandma had been ill for a while), it seems to have thrown everyone for a loop.

At the same time as this was going on, I received 3 really great pieces of news. I really just want to talk about those today. Right now, I need more gratitude in my life.

1. Recently I was I was interviewed for the Scrap Gals podcast by my very dear friend Tracie Claibourne. Hand to god, she is one of the sweetest people you ever will meet. It was a day or two before I got around to listening to it, but when I did – blushed the whole way though. I am not used to having such beautiful things said about me. Oh and trust me, having Tracie read my answers rather than me, is doing you all a huge favor. So if you would like to hear my thoughts on Project Life and food photography head on over here¬†or you can find it here on itunes. My episode is titled ‘No kids, No Pets, No Husband’, but it’s certainly worth checking out Tiffany and Tracie’s other episodes. They truly are an informative pair. Oh and don’t forget to leave them some love. Thank you, to the both of you from the bottom of my heart.

2. I won Layout of the Week over at Studio Calico. I had been having such a great run of luck over on the Studio Calico boards lately – I had the featured layout the week before last and I hosted the change the same week, but this one came at me from left field. Of all things, I won with Harvest. There is no denying it’s a great layout, it’s just a little under embellished for the usual LOTW winners. I should probably mention that Layout of the Week is determined by the public. So if you were one of the many who added Harvest to your inspiration book, my deepest thanks for making a hard week – a little brighter.

3. Last but not least, yesterday my Instagram account crossed the 2000 followers line. I’m seriously blown away by this. It took less than a month to go from 1500 to 2000 and as I write this it sits at a little over 2400. I know I must be doing something right, some of my new followers are pretty big names like Maggie Holmes, Amanda Caves and Dana Fleckenstein. I just wish I knew what it was so I could keep doing it. In lou of that, I do have a tangible way to thank my Instagram followers – I’m having a giveaway on Instagram!

Aimee's 2000 Follower Instagram Giveaway

For all the details head on over to my instagram account, all the information about the prize and what you have to do to enter is all in my last post.

From a very grateful place I want to thank you all for being such great readers. I love hearing from you and chatting with you. Now enough with all the words and on to the doing!

Aimee xx

P.s. How awesome is the print up the top by Menina Lesboa. It really sums up how I have been feeling lately. I’m so over complaining. I just want to get on and make stuff, be me and be happy. If this print speaks to you too, you buy it from Menina’s store here.

Happy Mail!

Oh how I love PL treats in the mailbox.
Just a quick note to let you know about a brilliant scrapbooking brand I recently discovered. Introducing Skipping 5. I accidentally discover the brand while surfing Instagram. You see, I have been hoarding gold supplies. I have a plan for my birthday this year. I intend to throw a big metallic bash and naturally nothing but a metallic spread will do for the week. Anywho, I came across an amazing picture of the gold foil cards and begged the poster to tell me where she obtained them. Yeah…not creepy at all. Having acquired said information, I went to get my loot, only to discover their amazing velum confetti pockets. The products I received are amazing quality and shiny. Honestly who can resist ‘shiny’ things? What can I say, I’m a very happy PLer.

Pro Tip: Skipping 5 is the absolute best place to go for chic puffy stickers. I promise you, they are nothing like the ones you remember from your childhood.

My Favorite Haunts #1

Organise My…
Today I am back in Bendigo while Pa has more tests. He went in this morning and will spend the night before (hopefully) coming home tomorrow. That just leaves Benson and I with a day to kill.

Bendigo is the 3rd biggest city in my home state and therefore has superior shopping compared to my little country town. I was born in Bendigo. I went to high school here and many of my friends still reside here, so I am no stranger to the city. Actually I am here a couple of times a month. I thought for today’s post I would show you one of my favorite stores.

Organise My… has been open for around about 4 years now and is located in the trendy Bath Lane. It specializes in organisational supplies and the most elegant stationary. They also stock Kikki-k, O-check and Ask Alice products, but more notably, it is also the only place in Bendigo I have been able to source MT washi tape. I’d love to show you what I bought but alas I can’t, it’s a present.

My Latest Find.

I’ve waited so long and it’s finally here!
Photo: Ann-Marie Loves Paper.

For forever and a day, I have been hunting for an address stamp, but every one I come across seems old fashioned and blah. Until last night when the fates converged and I finally found this beauty. I have been a big admirer of Ann-Marie Loves Paper stamps for so long. I read her blog religiously and knew the new store was coming. I had seen a sneak peek of the holiday collection but the above stamp was not in it.

Last night when the new store launched on big cartel, I went to check out the entire holiday range and lo and behold, there was my dream address stamp. I’m sure you will all be getting samples of it on your upcoming letters from me.

Finders Keepers #3

The definitive wish list:

Last Finders Keepers Post for Melbourne 2012. Santa if you are out there – hint, hint!

Wooden iPad case – from A Skulk of Foxes.
Of course this is a necessity. One’s iPad cover should always match one’s iPhone cover. Okay that’s not strictly true, but it is so beautiful and I love the feel and the touch of it. The bigger pattern on the back is really striking. A true work of art.

Suitcase sound systemSon Valise
I don’t really need this. In fact I would not know where to put it if Santa dropped it off, but honestly… HOW COOL ARE THEY!?!? My excited photography does not do them justice. They have the cutest little toggle on/off switch. I could play with it for hours (yeah, small things, small minds, I get it). They must have had a huge amount of stock at finders keepers because the amount I saw walk out the door in the 4 short hours I was there, was astonishing.

Rosewood and resin bangle – from Limedrop.
Limedrop was the first stall I came to as I walked in the door. It took every ounce of my strength not to hand over all my money there and then. Alas I showed too much restraint and came home without one. I really regret not buying the blue one at the reduced price when I had the chance.

Neon cushions – from The Super Cool.
I had seen these before on Instagram but at the time I had not realised that they were an Australian company. The blue is pictured above but they do the most amazing green and pink as well. We have already established my love for neon, right? No need to go down that path again. Let’s just say I need them!

Glitter tape – from Blank.
This is another thing I really regret not buying on the day, as Blank goods don’t currently list this product on their site. I passed over the tape purely because I could not decide on a colour/colours. Okay… and maybe because I am trying really hard to curb my tape addiction. Still should have bought some.

What do you think? Any favourites in the bunch?
