5 on the 5th: June Edition.

photography

You know, just in case you were wondering what I was doing on a random Thursday almost a fortnight ago.5 on the 5th June Edition | Betwixt & Between Blog

Welcome back to another edition of 5 on 5th.  Much like last month weather is cold and overcast. Thursday began with a house inspection from our landlords. There was much running around like headless chickens. Mica, our cat did her part by keeping the native wildlife at bay. I wish she would learn to mop.

After the house inspection, I finally got to put my feet up with a cup of tea and the brand new Alphabet Family Journal, which had arrived on Monday.  It’s a brand new publication by an Instagram friend of mine. It’s a brilliant snapshot of Australian family life.

Thursday is shopping day, so hubby and I headed out to the supermarket. It just so happens that our local supermarket is located right next to a giant hardware store. Bunning’s is a siren call to Gardner like my husband and a DIYer such as myself and we did not leave empty handed. Hubby got new fence posts and chicken wire to extend our veggie patch and I got purple carrots to grow in said patch.

Shortly after shopping and unpacking the groceries, we headed out for a walk around the lake. I feel the cold right down to the bones if I sit still too long, so it was nice go get out and get some exercise. It’s a little hard to see in this photo, but you can just make out the 4 giant cranes that punctuate the Bendigo skyline. Our city is currently building a new hospital and the cranes can be seen from nearly everywhere in the city.

For dinner hubby and I tried a new recipe – olive, onion and anchovy tart. I enjoyed my tart with balsamic baby greens. Hubby is a bit more of a purest and was happy to forego anything healthy looking. Both versions got 2 thumbs up.

On a side note, Still loving this project it’s really pushing me to work on my digital designs. I think maybe I have a hexagon in mind next month, but after that it’s anybody’s guess. You can see the rest of my 5 on the 5th designs here.

Don’t forget to check out Caylee, Mira and Sal’s 5 over here.

5 on the 5th: May Edition

photography

I’m so sorry my poor neglected blog followers. I didn’t mean to leave you so long. I’ll admit I got a little swept up in the National Scrapbooking Day festivities and am only just coming down. Which is funny and not funny in a way. Funny because it isn’t even my nation that celebrates and not funny because I know how obsessive and competitive these things make me. Neither the less, it’s created some great blog fodder that I hope to post this week but for right now I am sharing my 5 photos on the 5th of May with you.

5 on the 5th is a really fun game Mira, Caylee, Sal and I play over on the essence blog. If you’d like to see the other girls collages head on over here.

5 on the 5th - May Edition | Betwixt & Between Blogy Aimee Dow The 5th of May was cold and wintry down here in my part of Australia. I would have liked to stay in bed, but Monday is the day I run my errands. I bribed myself to get out of bed with a bowl of fruit loops. I know, I am too old and I know that they are not good for me, but Monday’s should always be full of treats.

After breakfast I headed out to the university to talk to a man about a graphic design degree. I’m still on the fence. I certainly have enough skills to get me by and I’ve been working on the industry for years. The question is do I want to spend 3 years making it formal…

I headed home for lunch and a visit from friends who have just moved back. Little miss Leianna did not much like all the adult talk and it seemed brutally unfair that she could not touch anything and everything in our house such as the gas log fire, the television remotes, iphones, ipads, cords, etc. We do not have a child friendly house. Lucky we have child friendly chickens. Leianna and I went outside to play with the chooks, stomp in the puddles and just do our best to get a cold.

After our guest left, I went back in to town to finish up my errands. While I was waiting for the chemist to fill a script, I went for a walk in the mall and I was all of a sudden stuck by a sense of déjà. I don’t go in to the centre of city very often, but I was standing in this exact same spot last month when I took a photo of the dragon’s birthday party. What a difference a month makes.

Last but not least, I returned home to fill in the hours prior to the Master Chef Premier – having food on my mind as I always do, I decided to make mini tag album of all my favourite vegan blogs for a friend who is interested in changing her diet.

And that my friend wraps up my 5 on the 5th. for May, If you would like to see April’s just click here.

A first time for everything

scrapbooking

I can finally tell you the exciting news:

I am so proud and happy to announce that I am one of the first members on a brand new Creative Team for the Essence product line. The link will take you to a you tube video for the current east coast collection, but we have lots of surprises in store for you in future.

But first a little more about the brand and the new team. I was first approached a little over a month ago by the designer of the essence collection and fellow aussie – Sally. When Sally came to me, it was clear she was in search of something particular. Sally knew exactly the type of team she wished to build and the goals the team would be aiming for. At first I asked her if she had the right person, but after an amazing Skype call, I was sold.

Shortly after that I was introduced to the rest of the team and Sally’s vision became even clearer. I am so honoured to be serving alongside my scrapping BFF Caylee Grey and Mira Włosińska, a new friend. In the short time we have been working together I can already see an improvement in my own work, as we are continually pushing ourselves to be more creative.

For a little more insight in to my new teammates check out our CT Q&A’s.
