Altenew Blog Hop: Scrapbooking Kit

Hi there, I’m so glad to see you here! I must admit I’m a little surprised to see you here with all the inspiration we’re given you already… ohhh you’re saving it for later? Good thinking. Did you enjoy my fellow Aussie Raquel’s projects? I’ve had the pleasure of meeting her in person a couple of times now and she truly is the sweetest, crazy talented AND her kids! Soooo cute! Oh and just wait till you see who is following me.

Today in my house is actually a very special day. Our little princess, and constant photo muse turns one. In fact as this post goes live, we shall be sleeping off her epic birthday bash, that has been claiming my sanity piece by piece for the past week. So forgive me if I don’t seem completely with it. That said, shall we get down to scrappy business? Altenew’s new Scrapbooking Kit is watercoloured magic. I could wax and wane poetically for an hour, but you’d much rather just see my projects wouldn’t you? Great you’re doing me a favour.

Honestly this is just TINY sample of what can be created with this amazing kit. It’s so jam packed with goodness! See:

The bright and vibrant colors in this kit will take you back to all those happy moments captured at home or abroad. Altenew: September Release Blog Hop

Welcome! Welcome! Did you have fun over at Flora’s Blog? Girls got wicked talent, that’s for sure. Phew, been awhile huh? Fear not you’re almost at the end and I’ll try not to hold you up too long. I just want a share a super quick layout with you and spend a couple of moments telling you about my favourite things in this release – The Bold Alphabet Die Set and The Sea Shore Set of Inks. Don’t get me wrong, all the other dies and inks are awesome too, but if I start talking about them we’d be here forever. So on to the layout!

The inspiration and photo for this layout dates back to late last year. I was 7 months pregnant and we were experiencing the first heat wave of the year. I was tired and hot ALL the time. You required a great deal of bargaining power to pursued me to do anything. So my husband graciously offered to spend his Sunday hanging out with me in bed under the air-conditioner for the entire day. We even had food delivered for dinner and dinned in bed. I think we both kinda knew our days like these were coming to an end. I think only a week or two later CJ started a new job that required him to work weekends and Eva was born another month after that.

Turns out I was just waiting for the perfect Inks and Collection to come out to scrap it.

I started off by stamping my background with the Floral Shadow Stamp Set in both the new Ink Colours – Lagoon and Emerald. I was trying to create a floral pattern you might find on bedding. I would like green floral bedding. All 4 of the new green inks are perfection. I have been waiting forever for the perfect bluey-greens, so you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll be seeing them a lot in my up coming layouts.

I then used the brand NEW, super AWESOME Bold Alphabet Die Set to cut my title from the Amy Tangerine Oh Happy Life 6×6 paper pad. I was looking for prints in the pad that would make good duvet covers. Fair warning: I’m probably going to use these to death too. I’ll never have to buy another set of thinkers (*maniacal laugh*)! I laid the letters out like disheveled bed linen and ran it though the sewing machine. Then I added a few tiny little, morning related details with the Oh Happy Life puffy stickers.

Last, but not least I fussy cut a few flowers out of an Amy Tangerine paper and popped them up on foam tape along with my photo and that’s how my bed inspired layout came together.

Now for the best part: THE PRIZES!

Sweet Funny Baby

Happy Easter! We are having an awesome weekend celebrating Eva’s first Easter or at least I am because the only way my darling daughter is eating chocolate is if I get to first – I won’t fill in that mental image for you. I did promise though, that she can eat as many as she likes for breakfast next year during a particularly hairy moment where I was trying to pry a brightly coloured foil confection out of her hand (which I may have put there for photographic purposes) as she desperately sort to cram it in to her mouth. Hopefully we both forget by this time next year or better yet she doesn’t learn to read my blog by then.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I’m hosting the Citrus Twist Sketch Challenge this weekend. You can find it over here.

Until next time,
Aimee Xx

Happiness +

I love babies. I love baby cuddles. I love all the baby accessories and baby scrapbook papers! This tiny little creature is the most fascinating thing that’s ever crossed my path and I was a farm girl for a few years. Some of those animals… Oh right, not pertinent to the current story. What I was going to say was my new favourite thing to scrap is firsts. SO MANY FIRSTS! I fear very shortly you may see pages dedicated to the first time Eva uses the potty or time I have to un-jam her from somewhere. Today however, we are here to celebrate Eva’s first ever bath.

I made this page with March’s Citrus Twist Main kit. They are not normally papers I would choose, they are however the colours of a 40 year old maternity unit AND the Pink Paislee paper reminded me of bubbles. On a side note, if and when we decide to have another bubba it will be in our cities new hospital. I saw the plans for the maternity ward while I was there – it’s blue.

Daddy did an awesome job washing little bubba, which was not an easy task given how much hair she was born with and her not so immediate love of water. So I feel a little bad making such a girly page. Once again though… BUBBLES PAPER! I even punched a few out to add as embellishment along with an obscenely large amount of puffy stickers. I’m just going to say for texture and dimension. Has nothing to do with their squishy, shiny goodness.

Oh and cut apart sheets. I find now if I cut them up when they arrive, I use them a whole lot more. This is the sheet from bloom. How cute is my little duo? I could look at this photo all day *heart eyes emoji*. Where did my newborn go? Feels like just yesterday I had a squishy warm bundle that slept a lot. Now I have a chubby cheeked bubba that’s just learnt to blow raspberries. Crazy.
