Altenew March Blog Hop Winner

scrapbooking

Once again I can’t thank you all enough for the lovely comments left on the last post. I really didn’t deserve it with the screw up with the last winners draw. There were personal circumstances out of my control, but I can and will always endeavour to do better. I sincerely apologise to anyone who felt disrespected or felt like they had their time wasted. Now for the fun part! I know you’re all so anxious to know who the winner this months $30 dollar voucher is:

Congratulations KJUDY1. I will be in touch in the next 24 hours so you can collect your prize!

Altenew March Blog Hop

scrapbooking

Welcome to yet another SUPER amazing Altenew blog hop! How awesome was Keeway Tsao? Hard act to follow that’s for sure. Being third last there really isn’t that much I can tell you that you don’t already know. So instead let me just share my favourite features of our amazing new spray inks and stencils.

Now honestly, I am not much of a mixed media scrapbooker, but the potential for these inks far exceeded my expectations. They are SO rich in color and SO shiny. Two of my favourite things of all time right there. I used the brand new Caramel Toffee Ink to dye my texture paste – it took no more than a few drops. That’s how you know your on to a winner. I used our brand new Medallion B Stencil to create a background with my texture paste.

Once my paste was dry I sprayed the corners with the new Ocean Waves Ink Spray and the Ruby Red Spray. Before it had time dry I wiped over it with a wet wipe to create a distressed look. These inks are so incredibly versatile.

A few extra squirts here and there to tie my media piece in with the Refections Pattern Papers and we’re almost done. I did raid my stash for some washi and hand drew a few of the smaller details. All the other embellishments have come from Altenew’s wonderful Refections Scrapbook Collection.

Now on to the part you have all been waiting for – The Prizes.

Altenew January Release Blog Hop II + Giveaway

scrapbooking

Altenew_Jan2017_BlogHop

Yay! Welcome to Betwixt and Between. I’m super excited that you’re here. Mind you, May is an extremely hard act to follow. I do have a great layout for you though.

IMG_9708

So here’s the thing, these photos of Eva are 6 months old. I let her aunts change a nappy just one time and instead they play dress ups. They are great photos. I love them SO much but I have never found the right collection to scrap them. Don’t they just scream the 80’s?

IMG_9706

Enter the new stamp sets and colour pallet inks. I’m going to be really honest here. I didn’t pick the Halftone Circle Stamp Set when we picked our release stamps for the month. It was sent to me just as a little bonus and boy am I glad it was. I LOVE this stamp set. Finally I was able to make a background that matched those tricky photos perfectly! This was not the first background I made with this stamp set. I’ve made perfect ones, ones where the circles don’t touch, distressed ones, ones with so many colours. The choices really are endless.

For this one however I choose a distressed look with the new autumn blaze ink, warm sunshine and lavender field inks. I also die cut my title using the silhouette, then layered up the new grey inks – to really bring the distressed look home.

IMG_9707

For extra dimension I stamped out a few more circles and punched them out with a regular old circle punch. I adhered them to the layout using foam dots.

IMG_9705

I thought long and hard about journaling, but honestly there really wasn’t much more story to tell than what was in the pictures, so instead I decided to use this wonderful sentiment from the new Be Strong Stamp Set.

IMG_9704

So there you have it, a super fast and fun layout that you really don’t need a lot of supplies for. I hope I’ve inspired you maybe just a little. Even if it’s just adding the halftone circle stamp set to you cart. Oh and don’t forget Altenew and many of the other blogs (including me) are giving away prizes!!! All you have to do is leave a comment below. I will be drawing a winner at random, who will receive a $30 Altenew gift certificate. The winner will be announce here on the blog by Saturday, February 4th at 8:00AM Australian EST.

Now off you go – I’m sure Agnieszka Malyszek has a real treat in store for you. Oh and just incase you’re a little lost, here’s the blog hop map:

Hi there, I’m so glad to see you here! I must admit I’m a little surprised to see you here with all the inspiration we’re given you already… ohhh you’re saving it for later? Good thinking. Did you enjoy my fellow Aussie Raquel’s projects? I’ve had the pleasure of meeting her in person a couple of times now and she truly is the sweetest, crazy talented AND her kids! Soooo cute! Oh and just wait till you see who is following me.

Today in my house is actually a very special day. Our little princess, and constant photo muse turns one. In fact as this post goes live, we shall be sleeping off her epic birthday bash, that has been claiming my sanity piece by piece for the past week. So forgive me if I don’t seem completely with it. That said, shall we get down to scrappy business? Altenew’s new Scrapbooking Kit is watercoloured magic. I could wax and wane poetically for an hour, but you’d much rather just see my projects wouldn’t you? Great you’re doing me a favour.

Altenew: September Release Blog Hop

scrapbooking

altenew_september2016bloghop

Welcome! Welcome! Did you have fun over at Flora’s Blog? Girls got wicked talent, that’s for sure. Phew, been awhile huh? Fear not you’re almost at the end and I’ll try not to hold you up too long. I just want a share a super quick layout with you and spend a couple of moments telling you about my favourite things in this release – The Bold Alphabet Die Set and The Sea Shore Set of Inks. Don’t get me wrong, all the other dies and inks are awesome too, but if I start talking about them we’d be here forever. So on to the layout!

aimeedow_sundayinbed

The inspiration and photo for this layout dates back to late last year. I was 7 months pregnant and we were experiencing the first heat wave of the year. I was tired and hot ALL the time. You required a great deal of bargaining power to pursued me to do anything. So my husband graciously offered to spend his Sunday hanging out with me in bed under the air-conditioner for the entire day. We even had food delivered for dinner and dinned in bed. I think we both kinda knew our days like these were coming to an end. I think only a week or two later CJ started a new job that required him to work weekends and Eva was born another month after that.

Turns out I was just waiting for the perfect Inks and Collection to come out to scrap it.

aimeedow_sundayinbed_detail1

I started off by stamping my background with the Floral Shadow Stamp Set in both the new Ink Colours – Lagoon and Emerald. I was trying to create a floral pattern you might find on bedding. I would like green floral bedding. All 4 of the new green inks are perfection. I have been waiting forever for the perfect bluey-greens, so you can bet your bottom dollar you’ll be seeing them a lot in my up coming layouts.

aimeedow_sundayinbed_detail2

I then used the brand NEW, super AWESOME Bold Alphabet Die Set to cut my title from the Amy Tangerine Oh Happy Life 6×6 paper pad. I was looking for prints in the pad that would make good duvet covers. Fair warning: I’m probably going to use these to death too. I’ll never have to buy another set of thinkers (*maniacal laugh*)! I laid the letters out like disheveled bed linen and ran it though the sewing machine. Then I added a few tiny little, morning related details with the Oh Happy Life puffy stickers.

aimeedow_sundayinbed_detail3

Last, but not least I fussy cut a few flowers out of an Amy Tangerine paper and popped them up on foam tape along with my photo and that’s how my bed inspired layout came together.

Now for the best part: THE PRIZES!
